Many college baseball players spend half of their college careers not playing for their colleges. A typical D2 college spring season is 45-50+ games. But once school lets out for the summer, for many D2 players, the baseball year is only half over.
A typical summer league team will also play 40+ games over the three months of the summer. These teams continue to draw professional scouts, players get to play alongside and against other players in D1, D2, D3, NAIA and JUCO schools. For many, the summer is about getting better. For some, summer ball is about showcasing what they have.
A lot of D2 players had VERY good summers, which made the selection very tough. But there were players that had league and nation leading summer seasons. To that end, we provide our first annual D2 Baseball News Summer All-American Team. These D2 players had incredible summers, as their statistics show. Some even led their summer collegiate leagues in many categories…and some even earned the league’s player/pitcher of the year or league MVP. These players have represented D2 baseball well.
