D2 Baseball Has Turned Into A War Zone

As we stated last week….NOTHING will surprise us this season. So far, we haven’t even gotten to April yet and some of the best baseball we have seen in years is happening all over the map.

The Top 30 is all over the place as teams are literally climbing over each other trying to get to the top. Teams that had made a great resume to be able to be considered for the top spots, ended up losing and even being swept. While others who had been hanging around the top 15 teams…made their move.

One thing we know right now…that we expect things to flip around again this week. D2 baseball is just too good this year, from top to bottom.

Tampa swept the previously hot NOVA Southeastern squad to move up close to the top as #2 nationally. Angelo State and West Texas A&M battled to a draw and lived up to the billing of the four game series. And Columbus State, walking in and sweeping the previous #2 Pacers…jumps right back into the mix after a rocky start to the season. And Findlay continues to show consistency and may just be able to get into the Midwest tournament and do some damage.

Regionally, the Saint Joseph’s Pumas, with their school threatening to close, is making their last stand. Cameron has been right on the edge all season, and knocked off the previously ranked Javelinas to get into the South Central Region rankings. And Florida Southern is starting to make noise again.

If someone is in Vegas betting on these games, they would be losing their shirt, their house, their cars. There is no way to handicap D2 baseball this year. It’s just too good.
